Pratt, Kan. - The No. nine Pratt Community College wrestling team traveled to Parsons, Kan. on January 15 to dual No. 22 Cloud County Community College and No. 13 ranked Labette Community College. The Beavers defeated both teams to open the conference dual season 2-0. They defeated the T-Birds of Cloud County 45-6 and the Cardinals of Labette County 36-11.
Recap vs. Cloud County
At the 125-pound weight class, Zane Donley won by fall in 44 seconds over Gael Garcia of Cloud County. At 133-pounds Rashaud Morgan faced Kaleb Talkington of Cloud County and won by fall in four minutes and 43 seconds. In the 141-pound weight class, Jamael Agnew won by forfeit. Sophomore Kolton Field won by decision in the 149-pound weight class 11-9 over Lukas Zodrow.
Wyatt Bahm at 157-pounds and Melton Powe at 165-pounds both won by forfeit as the Beavers grew a 33-0 lead in the dual. Cloud County picked up their first points in the dual in the 174-pound weight class match when Trystian Juarez lost by decision 13-12 to No. 6 ranked MaCallistair Chambers of Cloud County. The T-Birds would win the 184-pound weight class as well as Peyton Bosco lost by decision to Micah Cauthers. 5-1
In the 197-pound weight class Raymond Gary-Hernandez won by forfeit and finally in the heavyweight division, James Bankston won by fall over Darian Gillan of Cloud County in two minutes. In extra matches, Gabe Serrell won by technical fall in the 125-pound weight class over Noah Bradley of Cloud County 20-5. The second extra match featured Dustin Loughrie in the 149-pound weight class who lost by decision to Noach Bailey 7-2.
The Beavers would knock off the No. 22 ranked T-Birds 45-6 to pick up their first conference win of the season.
Recap vs. Labette
The dual started with an easy six points as Zane Donley won by forfeit in the 125-pound weight class. At 133-pounds Rashaud Morgan won by decision over Marcus Terry of Labette 7-6. In the 141-pound weight class Kolton Field won by decision over Eric Streeter of Labette 6-2. Kolton Field continued the Beavers dominance in the 149-pound weight class with a 6-2 decision win over Eric Streeter.
The big upset of the night came in the 157-pound weight class as Wyatt Bahm won by decision in overtime sudden victory-one 11-8 over No. three ranked Davion King. At 165-pounds Melton Powe won by fall over Aj Schaffer of Labette in one minute and 50 seconds to put the Beavers up 30-0 over the Cardinals. The first points of the night for Labette came at 184-pounds as Peyton Besco lost by technical fall to Jayden Ford 23-8. In the 197-pound weight class Raymond Gary-Hernandez lost by fall to No. five ranked Matthew Marcum of Labette in four minutes and 37 seconds. In the heavyweight division, James Bankston won by fall over Augustus Johns of Labette in one minute and 21 seconds to secure the 36-11 victory over the No. 13 ranked Cardinals to start the season 2-0.
