Pratt, Kan. - The No. nine ranked Pratt Community College wrestling team will begin their quest for a fifth straight Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference title on Wednesday, January 15 as they travel to Parson, Kan. to face the No. 13 Labette Community College and the No. 22 Cloud County Community College. Pratt will wrestle Cloud County first at 3:00 p.m. and then will wrestle Labette at 6:00 p.m.
The Beavers finished their non-conference tournament schedule at the 2025 Jet Open on Saturday, Jan. 4 in Wichita, Kan. Freshman Zane Donley finished first in the 125-pound weight class while both Trystian Juarez at 174-pounds and James Bankston at 285-pounds won second place. Third place finishers included Jameal Agnew at 133-pounds, Melton Powe at 165-pounds, and Marcel Gonzalez at 285-pounds. Wrapping up the results for Pratt were both Kolton Field at 149-pounds and Wyatt Bahm at 157-pounds finishing in fourth place.
Currently the Beavers have four wrestlers nationally ranked in their respective weight class. They include Zane Donely at 125-pounds, Cash Thomas at 157-pounds, James Bankston at 285-pounds, and at 165-pounds with the No. one rank is Melton Powe.
The Cloud County Community College T-Birds enter the dual currently ranked No. 22 in the nation and were in action this past weekend January 10-11 at the NJCAA Coaches Association Duals. The T-Birds faced off against five community colleges and went 0-5 on the weekend. They wrestled Northern Oklahoma College- Tonkawa (11-42), Northwest College (3-50), No. three Clackamas Community College (0-48), No. seven Triton College (24-36) and finally Big Bend Community College (16-42). The only ranked wrestler for the T-Birds is Mac Chambers at 174-pounds.
At No. 13 in the country the Labette Community College Cardinals will host the tri-dual after a tenth-place finish at the NJCAA Coaches Association Duals this past weekend. The Cardinal finished 3-2 in their pool to finish third. The team defeated No. 21 Northeastern Junior College (43-11), Big Bend Community College (43-11), and Barton Community College (40-15). Labette lost to No. 15 Northeast Oklahoma (20-24) and No. four Iowa Central Community College (3-45). In the ninth place match the Cardinals faced off against No. 14 ranked Cowley College and lost 19-31. Labette currently has three ranked wrestlers including Jordan Cullors at 141-pounds, Davion King at 157-pounds, and Matthew Marcum at 197-pounds.
Pratt will be on the road throughout January competing at Barton Community College and in a tri-dual against Neosho Community College and Fort Hays Tech Northwest. The Beavers will wrap up their conference dual schedule at home on February 6 with Colby Community College and Cowley College.
