This was the final match as a Beaver for Sophomores, Ebonie Russell, Ilse Smaalders, Sandra Rodriguez Dominguez, and Barbara Mattar. Each of the sophomores spoke about their experience traveling to a new country to compete, live, and grow in Pratt, KS.Ebonie Russell mentioned how impressed she is with both her own and her teammates development over the last couple of years. Sandra talked about her appreciation for the opportunity given to her by PCC and about the tremendous growth that she and her teammates have had both on and off the court. Ilse emphasized how much it meant to her to finish her time as a Beaver on such a high note. She also talked about how she is looking forward to carrying the lessons she learned at Pratt with her as she transfers to a new school. Many of the sentiments from the first three sophomores were echoed by Barbara as she spoke about her experience.
Head Coach, Jeret Johnson, was very complimentary of each of his sophomores. "This group has set a new standard for the program. We would not be in the position that we are, if they had not chosen to take a chance and join us two years ago. They have grown together both on and off of the court. We could not be more proud of them as a coaching staff."
The team is rounded out by freshmen Emma Guzman and Alyse Zimmerman. Emma Guzman is the #44 ranked singles player in the country. Alyse was seeded sixth at the National tournament for #6 singles. Both players will be back next year and are looking forward to leading the team into a new season.
