Melton Powe Wins NJCAA South Central District Championship

Pratt, Kan. - The No. six ranked Pratt Community College wrestling team hosted the 2025 NJCAA South Central District Tournament on Saturday, February 15 in the Dennis Lesh Sports Arena. The long day was highlighted with 165 pounder Melton Powe winning the NJCAA South Central District championship while Zane Donley at 125-pounds, Johnny Thomas at 157-pounds, and James Bankston at 285 pounds finished as runners-up.  

As a team, the Beavers finished second with 157.5 points, just a mere 7.5 points off the champion. Head wrestling coach Ken Kepley was named KJCCC Coach of the Year while the Beavers were officially named 5-time KJCCC champs. The Beavers will have the next three weeks to rest and prepare for the NJCAA Men's Wrestling Championships held on March 7-8 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
