Beavers Start Strong but Fall to Dodge City After Second-Half Surge

The Pratt Community College Beavers played with energy and discipline early but could not keep pace late, falling to the Dodge City Conquistadors after a second-half shooting surge.

Pratt set the tone in the opening half by defending at a high level. The Beavers limited Dodge City's explosive offense and forced tough shots. Their effort kept the game within reach, as Pratt trailed by only eight points at halftime.

Emilia Borissova led the Beavers with 12 points on 4-of-16 shooting. She went 2-for-2 from the free throw line and led the team with 7 rebounds. Her presence on both ends helped Pratt stay competitive early.

Sophomore Kalani Brock added 9 points and 6 rebounds. Daniella Zamora also contributed 9 points, giving the Beavers balanced scoring in the first half.

Pratt struggled to find rhythm in the third quarter. Dodge City took advantage by heating up from the perimeter. The Conqs connected on nine three-pointers in the second half, creating separation and extending the lead.

Despite the loss, the Beavers showed strong defensive focus and composure in the opening half. Their ability to control tempo early was a positive step moving forward.

Pratt will return home for two games this week. The Cloud County Thunderbirds visit Wednesday, followed by the Colby Trojans on Saturday afternoon at Dennis Lesh Sports Arena. The Beavers will look to build on their early-game execution and protect home court.
