Beavers Drop Defensive Battle to Barton, Fall 67-43

The Beavers fell to Highway 281 rival Barton on Saturday night, dropping a hard fought defensive contest 67-43.

Both teams set the tone early with physical defense and limited scoring. The game remained tight deep into the second half and was tied 26-26 more than halfway through the third quarter.

Sophomore Kalani Brock led Pratt in scoring with 11 points. She also recorded 8 rebounds and 9 deflections, which led to 4 steals. Her activity on both ends kept the Beavers competitive.

Polla Balint added 8 points and 5 rebounds while battling inside against Barton's frontcourt.

Late in the game, Barton's pressure defense began to take control. Pratt struggled to get quality looks and could not get shots to fall down the stretch. The Cougars used that momentum to pull away in the final minutes.

The Beavers will return to action Wednesday evening when the Cowley Tigers come to Lesh Arena. The team will look to build off its defensive effort and respond at home.
