Beavers Fall Short in Road Test at Cloud County - Jason Deel
[Pratt, KS-Dec 30th, 2025]
The Pratt Beavers came up just short Saturday afternoon, dropping a hard-fought road contest to Cloud County after a late comeback attempt stalled in the final minutes.
Pratt came out firing early, matching Cloud County bucket for bucket in an up-tempo first quarter that ended deadlocked at 23. The Beavers' offense cooled off in the second quarter, however, as they struggled to find the bottom of the net and trailed 30-42 heading into halftime.
Despite the scoring drought, Pratt stayed within striking distance and chipped away throughout the second half to the game. With under five minutes remaining, the Beavers surged to pull within one point, putting pressure on the Thunderbirds and setting up a tense finish.
Foul trouble proved costly down the stretch. Sophomore Kalani Brock and Freshman Tiffany Singleton both fouled out late in the fourth quarter, limiting Pratt's options as they tried to close the gap.
Brock led the Beavers offensively with 24 points and six rebounds, continuing her strong sophomore campaign. Polla Balint logged all 40 minutes on the floor and contributed 17 points, though she was limited on the glass with one rebound.
Despite the loss, Pratt showed resilience and fight on the road, battling until the final horn against a tough Cloud County squad. The Beavers will look to build on their strong stretches of play as they prepare to travel to Colby this coming Wednesday.
