[Great Bend, KS-Dec 6th, 2025] - Women's Basketball was on the road against Barton for a conference game. The Beavers would play in a competitive conference matchup on Saturday night but would lose 72-60 to the Cougars.

Game Recap:

Pratt (6-5, 2-4) got off to a cold first quarter start scoring just 4 points through the first five minutes. Barton (4-8, 2-4) had a ten point lead early in the first forcing the Beavers to take a timeout midway through the quarter. The timeout seemed to be effective for the Beavers as the Cougars only scored 4 points for the remainder of the quarter. Despite the shooting slump for the Cougars they still led the Beavers 18-13 at the end of the first.

Shooting struggles for Pratt would continue into the second quarter scoring just 10 points all quarter. The beavers were able to force tough shots due to a great team defensive effort. As a team Barton shot 5-19 (26.3%). Despite the great defensive effort the Beavers were also under a shooting slump going 5-14 (35.7%). Even though the Beavers were more efficient than the Cougars throughout the second period the Cougars still outscored them 14-10. Barton led at halftime 32-23.

The third quarter is where the Beavers and the Cougars both woke up. The first 5 minutes of the quarter consisted of both teams going back and forth with Barton still holding a 9 point lead halfway through the third. At 4:14 a Polla Balint jumpshot would get the Beavers within just 7 of the Cougars. Barton showed no quit and quickly made it a double digit game after a three. The next four minutes were full of both teams staying even with each other neither separating. Kalani Brock had a strong third quarter posting 8 points 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Barton would lead Pratt at the end of the third 51-43.

Nela Charynek hit a layup to get the Beavers within two possessions of the Cougars to begin the fourth. Barton was able to respond with a couple of shots of their own making the lead 10 points in the Cougars favor once again. The game stayed in deadlock the rest of the way with neither team going on a run. The Cougars would hit a couple shots late to give them a 12 point victory in a game that was much more competitive than the final score indicates.

The Beavers had a tough shooting night going just 23-61 (37.7%) from the field. The Beavers also struggled with turnovers giving the ball up 15 times. The Beavers couldn't get anything from beyond the arc to fall shooting just 1-14 from deep. Barton shot a slightly more efficient 26-61 (42.6%)
