Borissova scores 20 vs Seward

Earlier this evening, December 3, the Pratt Community College Beavers Women's Basketball team (6-3, 2-2) played host to the Seward County Community College Saints (7-3, 2-2). After a close fought contest, the Beavers fell 62-71.  

The first quarter was great for the Beavers who ended the period with a 21-16 advantage. Nela Charynek led all scorers with 8 points, while Emilia Borissova led all rebounders with 4 total rebounds.  

The second quarter is where the Beavers began to lose some steam. The in-period score was 11-25 in favor of the Saints. Charynek was only able to add 2 points to her total but still led all Beavers with 10 points at halftime.  

The biggest difference in the first half was the rebounding battle. At the half, Pratt had 13 total rebounds while Seward had 25, including 15 on the offensive end of the floor. This difference led to a 32-41 deficit for the Beaver ladies.  

In the third quarter, Pratt battled back. They outscored Seward 16-13. At the end of the period, Borissova and Charynek were both at 12 points, leading the Beavers. Borissova added 6 rebounds as well. Seward led the game after the third with a score of 54-48. 

The fourth quarter was tight, but Pratt was outscored by 3, 14-17.Emilia Borissova led all scorers with 20 points. Two other Beavers scored in double figures. Nela Charynek and Kalani Brock had 12 and 13 points, respectively. Brock and Borissova both recorded 7 rebounds to lead the team. Polla Balint recorded 3 steals and shot 75% from the field in the 40 minutes she played tonight.  

The Beavers will be back in action this Saturday, December 6 as they travel to Great Bend, KS to battle the Cougars of Barton Community College.
