WBB Earns Conference Road Win vs Independence - Cameron Cox

[Independence, KS-Nov 29th, 2025] - Women's Basketball was on the road against Independence for an early season conference game. The Beavers would dominate the Pirates winning 83-61.

Game Recap:  

Pratt (6-3, 2-2) got off to a scorching hot first quarter start shooting 12-19 (63.2%) from the field in the first. Polla Balint led the way in the first shooting 5-6 and racking up 11 points. Indy (3-7, 0-4) entered this conference matchup searching for their first conference win. To begin the first quarter the Pirates came out determined to earn that first conference win leading the game 12-9 with four minutes left. Balint would then score the next 5 points to give the Beavers the lead and they never looked back. Pratt would lead at the end of the first quarter 28-21. 

Kalani Brock had a great second quarter complimented by Emilia Borissova. Borissova led the way with 7 points and Brock with 6. The Beavers shot slightly worse in the second quarter shooting 9-17 (52.9%). The Beaver defense was impressive in the second holding Indy to just 16 points on 28.6% shooting from the field. 8 of Indy's 16 points game on free throws in the second. The Beavers led at halftime 51-37. 

The third quarter is where the Beavers ran away with the game. Pratt would outscore Indy 21-7 in the third quarter. The suffocating Beaver defense forced Indy to shoot 3-18 (16.7%) from the field. Brock led the Beaver offense in scoring with another 7 points. Balint and Borissova complemented the offense with both earning 6 points in the third. The Beaver trio accounted for 19 of the 21 points in the third quarter. Brock would hit a buzzer beating putback layup to give the Beavers a 72-44 lead going into the fourth quarter. 

Indy went on a small run to begin the fourth quarter narrowing the Beaver lead to 20. The Beavers would be outscored by Indy in the fourth quarter 17-11. Ultimately the Pirate comeback came too little too late as the Beavers cruised to victory in the fourth. Pratt earned their second conference win of the season with a 22 point victory over Indy. The final score was Pratt 83 Indy 61.

The Beavers played an all around elite game shooting 50% from the field. The Beavers were also a perfect 8-8 from the charity stripe. To go along with their elite offensive performance the Beavers forced the Pirates to shoot 22-68 (32.4%) from the field.

Pratt WBB will be back in action at home on Wednesday December 3rd against Seward County.

Polla Balint led the beavers in scoring with 25 points along with 4 rebounds

Emilia Borissova finished with a near double-double with 21 points and 9 assists 

Kalani Brock dominated all around with 19 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. 

Nela Charynek had 10 points 6 rebounds and 5 steals.
