Pratt, Kan. - The Pratt Community College (PCC) women's basketball team has opened their 2025-26 season with an impressive 3-0 start. To start the season, the Beavers hosted the Baymont Beaver Classic on October 31-November 1st with three teams participating including Neosho County Community College (NCCC), Western Oklahoma State College (WOSC), and Lamar Community College (LCC).
In game one, the Beavers being up 34-20 at halftime, held off a late surge by WOSC in the fourth quarter to pick up their first win of the season. Freshman Nela Charnek finished the game with 19 points while sophomore Kalani Brock finished the game with a double-double with 10 rebounds and 13 points in only 29 minutes of action due to foul trouble.
The next morning, Pratt faced LCC and battled through early adversity, only scoring 16 points in the first half (8 points in quarter one and 8 points in quarter two). The Beavers came alive in the second half, outscoring the Lopes 39-21 to pick up win number two 55-47. Polla Balint led the team with 23 points while transfer Emilia Borissova finished the game with 13 points (28 total points in the weekend).
To cap off the 3-0 start, the Beavers headed to Connors State College (CSC) in Warner, Okla and picked up the first road victory of the season 77-68. Pratt will travel to El Reno, Okla. to face Redlands Community College (RCC) on Friday, Nov. 7 before wrapping up non-conference play at home against Bethany College (JV) on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
"We love this team! Even when things are not going as planned and shots are not falling, they dig in defensively and find a way to get it done. Starting 3-0 is nice and builds confidence, but they get locked in pretty quick games," said head women's basketball coach Christopher Jefferson. "They do not care who gets the credit, they just want to do their best and win games. We still have a lot of work to do, and the girls know that. They continue to show up every day and put in the work. That is all that we as a coaching staff, have asked them to do. They adopted a Team Mentality Culture, and it is shown every day on and off the court. They are about each other and not themselves."
