On May 15-17 our Track and Field program competed at the JUCO National Championships in Hutchinson, KS. As usual, the Beavers put their best foot forward at the event. There were 4 new Personal Records (PR) from PCC participants.
Pratt saw new PRs in the 4x100m, the 4x400m from their relay teams. There was also a PR set in the Javelin and the 400m by two individuals.
In the 4x100m, Renaud Francois, Tavares Duckett, Zechariah Ebron, and Andrea Baker ran a 40.64. In the 4x400m, JaMauri Brooks-Davis, Andrea Baker, Jaden Sawyers, and Zechariah Ebron ran a 3:12.11. Andrea Baker had a 3rd PR at the championships, running a 47.11 in the 400m. Aiden Ward set a new PR in the Javelin throw with a 52.34m (171'9") cumulative score.
Coach Q says about the event, "We ran some PRs, but it was not our day with the Track Gods. [Tavares Duckett] won his heat but struggled with the wind. His heat and another had the lowest wind dated times." The difference in wind makes a huge difference to runners.
Coach Q and the other track and field coaches are very optimistic about their team for next year and are looking forward to another great year!
