Beavers Second Half Comeback Falls Short Against Butler - Cameron Cox
[El Dorado, KS-Jan 28th, 2026] - Men's Basketball was on the road against Butler for a mid season conference game. The Beavers were searching for their fourth conference win coming off of a win on Monday. The Beavers would play an ultra competitive game in the second half on Wednesday night but the cold start in the first half would prove to be too much as they fell to Butler 98-87.
Game Recap:
Pratt (6-14), (3-12) started off the game going back and forth with Butler (15-6), (11-4) gaining an early 11-9 lead. Butler would answer with a few buckets of their own making it a 18-14 game early on with Butler still leading.
The following four minutes saw Butler dominate the game jumping out to a 37-21 lead early. With 10:00 left in the first half the Pratt finally broke their scoring slump with a dunk layup by Seydina Faye. The damage however would persist as the Beavers fell behind by 19 points 50-31. The Butler Onslaught would continue into half with the Griz leading at half 56-37
Despite trailing the Beavers shot an efficient 16-34 (47.1%) from the field in the first half. The Beavers were freezing cold from beyond the arc shooting 1-8 12.5%) from three. Butler shot similar splits from the field going 21-43 (48.8%) from the field and 4-17 (23.5%) from deep. Seydina Faye led the Beavers in scoring at the break with 10 points on an efficient 4-7 (57.4%)
The second half saw the Beavers outscore Butler 50-42 however the 57-33 first half was too big of a deficit for the Beavers to recover from. The Beavers would go on to lose 98-87 despite a second half comeback effort. Scottie Guillory was the main source of Buckets in the second half finishing the game with 22 points.
