On Saturday, January 10, the Pratt Community College Beavers' Men's Basketball Program, 4-11 (1-9), took on the Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens, 12-4 (5-4). The Beavers battled to the wire, but Coffeyville was able to escape Pratt with an 87-80 overtime victory.
Hunter Vaughn came out like a flame thrower. His first 11 points were part of a 20-4 opening to the game. He finished the first half with 15 points and 6 assists while shooting 4-6 from behind the three-point line. Galvin Luketa also hit 3 three-point shots in the first half, which made his half time tally 9 points and 3 rebounds. The Beavers led the Red Ravens 43-36. Pratt shot 47.1% from the field and 52.9% from behind the three-point line in the first half.
Vaughn continued to power the Beaver offense in the second half. He added 16 additional points in the period and finished with 31 while shooting 8-16 from the field, 6-11 from three, and 9-11 from the free throw line. Muna Godswill was the teams second leading scorer with 11 points. Godswill also added 5 rebounds and a steal to his stat sheet. Unfortunately, the Beavers were outscored by 7 points both in the second half and overtime, which led to their loss.
This was a promising sign for the Beavers, who will be back in action on Wednesday as they host the Hutchinson Blue Dragons. You can come out to support the Beavers in Pratt at 7:30pm.
