Pratt, Kan. - The Pratt Community College (PCC) esports Valorant team finished their season with winning back-to-back Unified Collegiate League (UCL) champions. The team defeated the Ohio State University (OSU) 2-1 to win their second straight UCL championship on Tuesday, April 29.
"It was a big win for our team especially since OSU knocked us into the losers' bracket and gave us our first loss of the season," said head esports coach Charles Keefer. "Proud of the guys for resiliency to fight back through the losers' bracket and to get their revenge in the championship match."
Just five days before winning the UCL championship the team unfortunately lost the National Junior College Athletic Association Esports (NJCAAE) national championship match 2-1 against Centralia College. The Beavers had previously beaten Centralia back on March 27. Pratt finished national runners-up in the NJCAAE contenders league.
"The loss to Centralia was devastating to our roster," said coach Keefer. "However, to bounce back in five days for another championship match and to win says a lot about the determination of our team. I am excited about the future of our Valorant team as all five players are returning and we have several high-level players joining us in the fall."
