PRATT, Kan. – The Pratt Community College Baseball team capped the 2026 home portion of the regular season collecting a split against Butler Community College on Thursday at Stanion Field. The Beavers used a big four-run sixth inning to claim game one by a score of 5-3, before the Grizzlies came back to win game two by a score of 15-7.
Game One: Pratt CC 5, Butler CC 3
Game one featured a pitchers duel between Sutter Balog and Shane Holman. After the game was scoreless through the first two innings, Gunner Hewitt broke the scoreless tie with a solo home run for the 1-0 lead after three innings.
Pratt CC (14-36, 6-24) held the lead into the sixth inning when Butler CC (28-24, 16-14) tallied a pair of runs on a two-run homer.
The Beavers answered right back in the home half of the inning. Eli Patrick drove in the tying run with a single to center to score Owen Schmidt. With the bases loaded, Tyler Jeffries battled before drawing a full-count walk to score Carter Allen with the go-ahead run. Jabin Moore and Hewitt followed with back-to-back bases loaded walks to score Patrick and Ronald Woods for the 5-2 lead entering the seventh inning.
The Grizzlies didn't go away quietly, as they rallied for a run and with the tying run at the plate, Isaiah Henderson got a groundout to first to preserve the 5-3 victory.
Both teams had six hits with Schmidt and Patrick leading the way with two-hit games. On the mound, Balog went the first four innings, allowing no runs on just one hits, with four walks and four strikeouts to get the no decision. Jackson Feggi was next in relief and he picked up the win (2-2) tossing the next two innings, allowing three earned runs with three strikeouts. Henderson went the final inning, picking up his first save of the season. He allowed just one hit and recorded a pair of strikeouts.
Game Two: Butler CC 15, Pratt CC 7
Game two was a back-and-forth affair through the first seven innings. With the game tied at five after six, Butler CC tallied a run in the seventh, five in the eighth and four more in the ninth to pull away for the 15-7 victory.
With The Grizzlies ahead 2-0 after the top of the second, Gomez got the Beavers on the board with a solo home run to cut the deficit in half.
Following a run by Butler CC in the third, Gomez delivered another long ball, a solo home run in the fourth to leave the Grizzlies with the 3-2 advantage.
Butler CC collected two runs in the fifth to push ahead 5-2. That's when Gomez delivered once again. In the bottom of the sixth inning with Patrick on base, Gomez crushed his third home run of the game, as at this point in the contest, Gomez had driven in all four runs for the Beavers. Landon Cochran helped Pratt CC draw even with an RBI single down the right field line to score Woods for the 5-5 tie after six innings.
That's when Butler CC took over, outscoring the Beavers10-2 over the final three innings to claim the win. Nate Lodewyks closed the scoring for Pratt CC in the eighth inning with a two-run single to left-center, scoring both Gomez and Patrick.
The teams combined for 22 hits, with Butler CC holding the 13-9 edge. Gomez led the Beavers with three hits, all home runs, four RBI and four runs scored. Lodewyks added a pair of RBI.
On the mound, Thomas Harmsworth started and went the first five innings to end up with the no decision after allowing five earned runs with four strikeouts. Colin Redeker ended up with the loss (1-4), allowing the one run in the sixth inning.
The Beavers will close the 2026 season in El Dorado on Saturday facing Butler CC with another doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
