The Pratt Women's Basketball Team captured a much needed road win at Garden City Jan. 19 with a final score of 71-68. In a hotly contested battle that had multiple lead changes, and ties. The Beavers drew first Blood on long three from Jazmine George. Garden Responded-with inside basket from Daz'Monique Johnson and a three pointer from Jaleah Bellany. Pratt trailed 22-17 after one period. The Beavers would turn up the defensive intensity in the second quarter to outscore the Broncs 13-6. The inside outside scoring of Courtney Cleveland and Dymond McElrath gave Pratt a two point edge at the half 30-28.
The second half was tit for tat but the defensive team play led by Tianna Tullis, Jaz George, Rachel Tippens, Rylee Alexander and Company along with Timely Free Throw shooting down the stretch from Alexander, McElrath, Tippens and Douvier proved to be the difference. Pratt was led by Courtney Clevelands 23-10 for a-double double. Dymond McElrath ,Jaz George,and Rachel Tippens collectively added 10 points each.
Pratt improves to 14-5 overall and 7-4 in the Jayhawk West. The Beavers will be back in action at home against Barton Feb. 6 at 6 p.m.
