The number 4 ranked and undefeated women's NJCAA team in America defeated the vastly improved Beavers of Pratt Community College 69-38 in Hutchinson, Kan. After both teams turned the ball over on the 1st three possessions hutch finally scored on a Dejanae Roebuck basket, Pratt countered with a transition basket by Dymond Mcelrath , and a 3pointer by Janell Douvier to take an early 5-4 lead. The teams battled evenly for the entire first 10 minutes and hutch led 17-13 at the end of the first quarter. The beavers battled hard the entire night but the second quarter was a sign of things to come. The Beavers shot a dismal 15 percent in the second quarter and trailed 33-19 at the half.
The third quarter saw the Beaver's cut into the lead and they trailed only by 10 points midway though the third stanza but many missed opportunities at the rim and from the foul line along with the quality and depth of Hutch proved to be too much over the 40 minute contest.
Hutch prevailed 69-38. The Blue Dragons had balanced scored with four reaching double figures. Freshman Abie Ogle led the way with 13 points on 6 of 7 shooting. Makayla Vannett , Dejanae Roebuck, and Keely Tini chipped in with 12, 10, and 10 respectfully. Rylee Alexander continued to lead Pratt in scoring and rebounding with 9 points and 9 rebounds.
Pratt returns to action on Wednesday Jan. 23r at Garden City in a Key Western Division Jayhawk contest.
Pratt drops to 13-5 and 6-4 in conference.
