Pratt Community College women's basketball remains as 1-of-2 teams in the KJCCC still undefeated in conference play this season. The Lady Beavers continued their streak in the Jayhawk West after tackling the Pirates of Independence Community College in their fourth conference game of the year. PCC traveled to take down Independence on the road in a nail-biting 53-52 victory.
The Lady Beavers performed from behind for a portion of the contest including a 5-point deficit at the half. The third quarter proved to be the lowest scoring period of action for PCC so far this year, as they went on to earn only seven points. Trailing at the start of the final regulation period ignited the Pratt offensive for a striking 21 points in just 10 minutes.
Many of these fourth-quarter points came from sophomore Courtney Cleveland. The second-year forward tallied 26 points total in the rout of ICC, which was nearly half of what her team scored during the evening. She helped to give her team the edge not only by being the game's leading scorer, but also by bringing down a game-high nine rebounds and three steals that helped to give her squad extra looks in a close contest.
Pratt women's basketball is now 9-1 in their last 10 matchups. The Lady Beavers stand alongside the Hutchinson Community College Lady Blue Dragons as the only two teams in the KJCCC yet to be beaten by a conference opponent.
Before continuing Jayhawk Conference action, the blue and white will take a brief hiatus for winter break. Beaver basketball will start up again on Jan. 2 against Friends University Junior Varsity.
