Pratt Community College men's basketball opened up Jayhawk Conference play against Independence Community College in the Dennis Lesh Sports Arena. The Beavers held the lead for much of the game, but the tenacious Independence team just would not go away. Using a pair of second half runs, Independence chipped away at the lead. Independence climbed back and took the lead with 18 seconds left in the game. A long three pointer by Pratt's Dawson Gunter crashed off the front iron as the horn sounded to end the game. PCC drops a heartbreaker to Independence 93-94.
Five players for the Blue and White scored double digit points. Jaylon Wilson led the starters in scoring with 16 points and seven rebounds. Tyvon Taylor was the assist leader for the Beavers with nine assists. He also finished with seven points, three rebounds and three steals. Devin Marsh came off the bench to lead all scorers with 26 points and seven rebounds. Player of the game goes to Ike Durham of Independence. Durham would come off the bench for 20 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
PCC men's basketball looks to bounce back on the road against Dodge City Community College on Nov. 15. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
