The Pratt Community College men's basketball team returned to the Dennis Lesh Sports Arena for the final non-conference game of the season. Taking on Tabor College JV, the Beavers fell behind early thanks to Tabor JV being hot from beyond the three-point arch. Pratt stepped up the defensive pressure with traps to force turnovers and gain the lead before the half. The Beavers continued their stifling defense and using transition offense to secure the win. PCC gets the victory 111-85.
As a team, Pratt shot 51 percent from the field, 38 percent from beyond the three point arch, and 55 percent from the free throw line. The Blue and White also brought down 45 rebounds against Tabor JV.
Offensively, the Beavers got scoring across the roster. The team combined for 23 assists and six players broke double digits in scoring. Tyvon Taylor led the bench players with 12 points, five assists, three rebounds, two steals and a block. Jaylon Wilson was the highest scorer for PCC with 24 points. He finished the game with eight rebounds, six assists and two steals. James Brooks and Anfernee Smothers each had double-doubles for the Blue and White. Brooks ended the game with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Player of the game goes to Smothers, who finished with 21 points, 16 rebounds and a block. Leading scorer in the game goes to Tabor JV's Nick Lee who drained nine threes ending the game with 40 points.
PCC men's basketball begins conference play with a game against Independence Community College on Nov. 11. Tip-off for the game is set for 4 p.m.
