PCC baseball celebrates 2017 season

Pratt Community College baseball highlighted the 2017 season at the annual academic and athletic awards ceremony.

Injuries have been the story for the Beavers this spring.  Despite the injury bug, the Blue and White got off to a 10-9 start while playing a very competitive preseason schedule. Beaver baseball had their share of highs and lows throughout the Jayhawk conference.  Even through injury, the Blue and White showed great toughness and resiliency while competing in the always tough Jayhawk West Conference.

This year's highlights were Anthony Romer's two out, bases loaded double for the walk-off win versus Iowa Lakes. Ty Hoefferle's walk-off single to beat Garden City. Nathan McBroom throwing four complete games. Tanner Kleinsaaser and Jacob Compton's combined five hits and 11 strikeouts against national power Northeast Texas Community College. Reece Garvie led the country in doubles before an injury cut his season short. The Beavers are at the Jayhawk Conference in Stolen Bases.

Several Beaver baseball players received awards for their accomplishments on and off the field. Reece Garvie was selected as the Hitter of the Year. The Pitcher of the Year went to Nathan McBroom. Pitcher Ryan Seidel was acknowledged by the business department for his academic pursuits this year. He was awarded as the outstanding business transfer student.
