On March 4 and 5 the Pratt Community College baseball team took on Iowa Lakes Community College in a four game weekend series. The Beavers got the series win going three and one in the four game series.
The Blue and White won the first game in the series in walk-off fashion. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, Anthony Romer hit a double to left field. Trace Maddux, Daniel Johnson, and Reece Garvie all came home for PCC to take the game one victory 7-6.
Garvie came through for the Beavers in game two with two hits, a run and an RBI in three at bats. He scored Darrian Aldridge in the first inning with a triple. Michael Davis brought him home with a single in the fourth to close out the scoring for Pratt. The one run edge was all Nate McBroom needed on the mound as the sophomore pitcher went the distance in nine innings for his second win of the season as PCC wins 2-1.
The Iowa Lakes bats came alive in the third game of the series. Iowa Lakes used a four run first inning and held on to the lead for the game three win. Aldridge scored the lone Beaver run as PCC loses in game three 1-5.
The Beavers used a bases loaded hit batsmen to gain a one run lead in the bottom of the eighth. PCC held on in the ninth to take an 8-7 game four win and the series.
PCC baseball opens up conference play with a home series against Seward County Community College starting on March 11. First pitch will be at 1 p.m. from Stanion Field.
