PCC baseball found themselves in a home and home series against Hesston College on Feb. 18 and Feb. 19. The Beavers split the series with Hesston with two wins and two losses on the weekend.
In the first game on Saturday, the Beavers prevailed 13-2. Anthony Romer led the Blue and White with three runs, two hits, and two RBIs in three at bats. Josh Jones and Darrian Aldridge combined for six runs, three apiece, for the Blue and White. Tanner Kleinsasser got the win on the mound while Jacob Compton gets a three inning save for PCC.
Game two saw PCC get the win 2-0. In the top of the third inning, Romer grounded out to the shortstop to score Johnson from third. Corey Steward scored on an error in the top of the seventh to complete the scoring in the game. Nate McBroom got his first win of the season in a complete seven inning shutout.
The series came home to Stanion Field for the final two games in the series on Sunday Feb. 19. Pratt fell behind 1-2 in the first and Hesston used a high scoring fourth inning to take a 5-14 win in the first game. Tynan Hofferle stood out for the Beavers offensively. He had two hits, a run and an RBI in three at bats. Romer was an on base threat with two stolen bases, a run, a hit, and an RBI.
The Beavers rallied in game two to take a 6-5 lead into the seventh. Ben Van Diest hit a two run home run to give PCC the lead. Hesston responded with two runs off of a single by Aldana to retake the lead heading into the bottom of the seventh. Reece Garvie led the inning off with a double and reached third, but the Beavers were unable to bring him home. PCC falls 6-7 to Hesston in a heart breaker.
PCC has the week off before another home and home series on Feb. 25 and 26 against Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa. The Blue and White travel to Tonkawa on Feb. 25 before both teams return to Stanion Field on Feb. 26 for a double header.
